Another Greece Update

We were the first in the gates at the Acropolis…can I just say it was AMAZING! So many layers of beautiful…after that we were able to go to Ancient Agora…Paul preached in this area…it was very moving. We had a great lunch and then most of the group went shopping and a couple of us visited a couple of other historical sites.

At the center, Mary Beth and Nora taught an advanced ESL class and then there were the normal preschool, children, and adult classes. It was our biggest numbers night yet. We’ll try to get a total number of people we taught this week at some point to let you know how many people are benefiting from this ministry…and they are having to turn people away.

If your church may be interested in partnering with the center, either through prayer, sending teams, or financially, let me know and I can get you more information and in contact with the leaders. It is an amazing place. Unfortunately they are about to lose 4 staff members in Oct. There is a couple coming, but our team just doesn’t know how they can physically do all that needs to be done week in and week out just to do the very basics. Financial cuts are one reason the staff will be smaller.

Tonight was very bittersweet…it’s so sad to think our time there is already finished, but we feel good about our contributions and are thankful that we are able to leave behind some materials that will continue to bless after we are gone.

Tomorrow is our “fun day,” which we were talking about the irony in the term because EVERY day has been so fun. We are taking a Christian tour of Ancient Corinth…we are so excited…You don’t even want to know how many photographs have been taken already!!! As an added blessing from God, a team of 4 that arrived today will be joining us…and the really cool thing is that the team is from Lexington, KY…and one of the team members is a cousin of one of our church members!

We want to thank Living Hope for lifting each of us up by name Wednesday night at Family Night Worship…it’s so great we have such a loving and supportive church lifting us up.

We again want to thank you for all the prayers you have done on our behalf. After pickpocketing attempts on our group two days in a row…we have not had one single other incidence…the metros have been much less crowded and the experiences have been much less stressful…We believe prayer had a part in that. We have also received news of fruit today. We have seen joy and laughter from those who have experienced great trauma. We have seen and heard love expressed between people that are normally seen as enemies. I could go on and on…

In the days and weeks to follow, we will have several opportunities to share with classes and small groups and through pictures on Facebook, etc. Please pray that God will give us words that will bring Him honor and glory as we share the work He has done and is doing in our lives as well as in the lives of those we have served. It’s never easy to find adequate words to describe God’s handiwork!

We love and appreciate you all!

  1. How wonderful to realize that God went before & prepared the way – and you had no clue – and now to realize that He will go behind – and do work that you will not see until later! But it’s all God – and I’m so thankful that each of you were able to be a part for Him in these ladies lives – Only He will be able to take what you’ve done and open hearts to know Him – but you were faithful to go and we KNOW He will always be faithful! Thanks so much for all the posts and for letting us know your prayer needs.
